A volunteer is defined as a person who freely offers to help or take part in an activity or task at school at no benefit to themselves (i.e. not work experience/student). In this role (whilst some expenses might be claimed) the volunteer does not get paid or receive any benefit for their help.
Volunteers typically help Trinity by assisting children in class, (e.g. helping children learn to read) providing assistance to staff on school trips, mentoring children in school or on extra-curricular activities etc.
Staff may approach a person to consider if they would like to volunteer; although volunteers can also take the initiative to ask the school if they can help.
For one off trips please disregard the following procedure. This procedure is for regular help.
Anyone wishing to volunteer will need to complete a Volunteer Application form detailing key contact information, work experience and details on what you wish to offer and when. This can be obtained by emailing the school office. All Volunteer Applications will be reviewed by the Senior Leadership Team.
If approved, the volunteer will be asked to come in for an informal chat to find out more and how best we can use their potential.
On approval a job outline will be put together so both the Volunteer and School know what role they will be playing.
To note, that, Volunteers are required to follow the Safer Recruitment practices as outlined in our Staff Recruitment policy. This involves a DBS, Health check & other checks where applicable to safeguard our children.
All volunteers are covered by Trinity Christian School’s insurance policy whilst they are on the premises or engaged in any work on Trinity Christian School’s behalf.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not for Students or people wanting Work Experience - please refer to the other Section on this
